Wanda Clay is new Duplin Extension director

Wanda Clay, a long-time North Carolina Cooperative Extension agent in Duplin County, has been named to direct to Cooperative Extension program in the county.

Clay’s appointment as Duplin Cooperative Extension director was announced by Dr. Joe Zublena, Cooperative Extension director, and Mike Aldridge, Duplin County manager.

The new county director joined the Duplin Cooperative Extension center in 1995 as a family and consumer sciences agent, a position she held until being named county director. Her Cooperative Extension career began two years earlier, when she was hired as a family and consumer sciences agent in Person County.

Clay has a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences from North Carolina A&T State University and a master’s degree in vocational and technical education from the University of Illinois.

“I am very pleased to have Wanda serving as the Duplin County Extension Director and to have her on our southeast district leadership team,” said Greg Hoover, director for Cooperative Extension’s southeast district, which includes Duplin County. “Wanda led an active and productive family and consumer sciences program in Duplin County for 16 years. She is very capable, works hard and will do a great job serving as the county extension director.”

Hoover added, “Her agricultural background and upbringing will help her in addressing customer needs and continuing the strong history of extension in the county.”
