NC State University’s Turfgrass Field Day is an annual opportunity for members of the public and the green industry to learn turf-related tips and tricks that are rooted in research. This year’s event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Lake Wheeler Turfgrass Field Laboratory, 3920 Dr. Bill Gilbert Way in Raleigh.
Hundreds of people are expected to attend. Throughout the morning, NC State faculty members will give 30-minute talks on topics ranging from pest and weed management to irrigation technology and new turf varieties.
Participants will also have a chance to view the university’s ongoing turfgrass research trials, speak directly with faculty and staff experts and see, feel and touch the types of grasses most appropriate for North Carolina’s growing conditions.
For details, visit www.turffiles.ncsu.edu/LWFieldDay. Admission, including a barbecue lunch with NC State ice cream, is $35 for those who register by Aug. 7 and $45 after that. Students with IDs are eligible for an additional discount.
