RAFI offers farm advocacy webinars, beginning March 11

Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI) is offering a series of webinars on farm advocacy for family farmers beginning March 11.

The first webinar, Farm Advocacy 101, will be held on March 11, at 3:00 – 3:45 pm EST. Please share information about the series with colleagues and professional networks. For more information or to register, visit the webinar page.

RAFI’s Farm Advocacy team to provides services to family farmers. The work of a farm advocate often includes financial counseling, making referrals to legal and social service providers, and assisting farmers with farm program and loan applications.

Although many farm advocates emerged from the Farm Crisis of the 1980s, there is still a vital need for the services they provide to farmers. As agricultural practices and government regulations increase in complexity, farmers continue to rely on the expertise of experienced advocates.

RAFI is launching a new series of webinars and trainings related to farm advocacy to provide resources and tools both to new and established farm advocates. The trainings will provide introductory material for people new to the field of Farm Advocacy as well as offer established advocates a great professional development opportunity and the chance to connect with other advocates to share their expertise.

Webinar topics will include FSA Loan Programs, Navigating the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Appeals Division, Recognizing Discrimination, and How to Avoid Predatory Lending, among others.
