Nobel Laureate, international entrepreneur headline research conference

WHAT:
Nobel Laureate and distinguished MIT professor Dr. Phillip A. Sharp and Juan Enriquez, best-selling author and leading authority on the global impact of life sciences, will headline the conference “Stewards of the Future: Research for Human Health and Global Sustainability” at North Carolina State University.

The day-long public event will focus on the importance of research in addressing society’s challenges, particularly within the context of human health and global sustainability.

In addition to keynote addresses by Sharp and Enriquez, conference highlights will include a panel discussion with corporate and public sector leaders , an Innovation Fair showcasing examples of and opportunities for research collaboration and ample time for networking. Media coverage is welcome.

WHEN:
Tuesday, April 17
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

9:30 a.m.: Phillip Sharp keynote address

11 a.m.: (Multi-media presentation) “Novel Research in Agricultural and Life Sciences”

1 p.m.: (Panel discussion) “Corporate and Institutional Sustainability Strategies,” moderated by E. Norris Tolson, president and CEO of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center

2 p.m.: (Presentation) “Economic Forecast” by NC State’s Dr. Michael Walden, William Neal Professor and Extension economist

3:30 p.m. Juan Enriquez keynote address

5 p.m.: Cocktail reception at Innovation Fair

WHO:
The conference is hosted by the N.C. Agricultural and Life Sciences Research Foundation and the North Carolina Agricultural Foundation Inc. Lead sponsors are Bayer CropScience and BASF.
