New name announced: CALS Business Operations
It’s a new day and a new name for the business arm of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Last week, the new name for CALS Business Operations was announced to employees.
The Business Operations staff was actively involved in selecting the new name, first suggesting names for the organization and then voting on the top three name choices. CALS Business Operations was the name chosen by 75 percent, or 28 out of 37 employees, who participated in voting.
The two employees who suggested the name for CALS Business Operations – Sheree Avent and Katy Wilson — will receive gift cards donated by Jim Klingler and Michelle Healey of the Business Implementation Team. Congratulations to Sheree and Katy for their naming idea, and thanks to Jim and Michelle for the gift cards!
In addition, employees learned last Monday of a plan to renovate the garden level of Patterson Hall where Business Operations is located. As early as this year, employees will see renovations to downstairs bathrooms. External waterproofing and some new windows at the garden level will help address some moisture problems. A new air conditioning unit already has replaced “the big fan” used to cool the space on warm days.
The university also will hire an architectural firm to create and upgrade spaces for all teams in Business Operations. Hopes are to complete the renovations by summer 2016.
