Golfers can play a round on North Carolina State University’s Lonnie Poole Golf Course and raise money for scholarships Monday, Sept. 26 during the annual Dr. Art Bruneau Golf Tournament and Scholarship Fundraiser.

The third edition of the tournament, which honors retired N.C. State professor and turfgrass expert Dr. Art Bruneau, begins at 8 a.m. There is a $100 per player registration fee, and players may sign up to play online at http://www.TurfFiles.ncsu.edu/BruneauGOLF/

Proceeds from the tournament will be used to fund scholarships for N.C. State students in the N.C. State turfgrass program. Last year, the tournament raised $9,000 for scholarships.

Participants will be eligible to win a number of prizes. Parks Chevrolet of Kernersville has agreed to provide vehicles, which will go to any golfer shooting a hole-in-one on any of the five par 3 holes on the course. The tournament will also feature several closest to the pin contests, with winners taking home TaylorMade golf clubs and an N.C. State Sun Mountain golf bag. Other golfers will win gift certificates for the Poole golf course.

Weed Man, a lawn care service, is sponsoring a putting contest, post-tournament cookout and awards ceremony, while Quali-Pro, a turf products company, will provide drinks for the tournament. The winner of the putting contest will have a chance to sink a 50-foot putt. A successful 50-foot putt will win the putter $5,000 and add $5,000 to the scholarship fund, both amounts provided by Weed Man.
