Extension Centennial Celebrations to be held in May

Mark your calendars now to join N.C. Cooperative Extension for two centennial celebrations May 19 and 20. Extension employees, as well as county stakeholders and partners are invited to attend. More information will be available soon.

The Extension Centennial Celebration will be held the evening of May 19 at the N.C. State Fairgrounds Exposition Center. Registration will soon open for this free dinner event, so please spread the word to employees, as well as partners in your county who will want to attend this historic event.

The evening will include an exhibits showcase of Extension’s outstanding country programs. Use this attached form to apply for a place in the exhibit space. Forms are due to Sarah Kotzian by March 31, and those selected will be notified by April 7.

May 20 continues the celebration, with the opportunity to share news of Extension’s great work with elected officials. County staff, advisory leaders, stakeholders and supporters are invited to visit legislative leaders in Raleigh, on behalf of Cooperative Extension.

All counties will want to ensure that representatives will be available that day to meet with your legislative representatives. Talking points and other materials to ensure successful visits will be provided. Following the legislative visits, Extension will celebrate with a state proclamation signing marking a “New Promise for a New Century.”

Make plans to engage your local advisory leaders, Extension and Community Association members, Master Gardeners, 4-H volunteers, county commissioners and county managers, agents and staff in these important events.
