Extension answers questions at State Fair
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is sharing information about education and jobs in agriculture during the 2012 N.C. State Fair, Oct. 11-21. CALS is a partner in the fair’s Cultivate a Career exhibit, located near the fair’s Gate 11 and Kerr Scott Building.
Visitors to the exhibit will learn about education and degree programs in CALS that can lead to a variety of career opportunities. In addition, professionals with N.C. Cooperative Extension will be on hand to answer visitors’ questions on a variety of topics, ranging from lawn care to shopping on a budget to parenting. The N.C. Cooperative Extension Service is a based in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, with local centers in all the state’s counties and the Qualla Boundary of the Cherokee Nation.
Cultivate a Career also will provide opportunities for visitors to take a career interest survey and talk with career counselors on how to seek training for various positions in agriculture. A giant game board in the center of the tent will test visitors’ knowledge of the education required for and compensation available for key jobs in agriculture.
When you visit the fair, look for these “Ask Cooperative Extension” topics in the Cultivate a Career tent:
