Dean Linton: Pucker up, pig!

CALS Dean Richard Linton stepped up and kissed a pig during the 2013 Ag Awareness Week activities on N.C. State’s Brickyard this week, all in the interest of good, clean fun and finding a cure for cancer. Alpha Zeta agricultural fraternity sponsored a competition where the contestant with the most cash in his or her collection jar was compelled to kiss a pig, one of the agricultural animals on display on the Brickyard.

In the end, the contest came down to Linton and N.C. State’s new Head Football Coach Dave Doeren, but Linton led by taking in about $150 to Doeren’s $130. Linton bravely rose to the occasion by kissing the squealing pig, though it was difficult to tell whether Linton or the pig was more surprised at the gesture. Doeren took time for photos with student fans and demonstrated his skill at roping a steer. Funds raised, about $300, will support Alpha Zeta’s “Relay for Life” team, a project that raises funds to fight cancer.
