This month’s highlighted leadership book is Start with Why by Simon Senek. This is book is highly recommended for anyone interested in growing their leadership and communication skills.
Senek focuses on his belief that we tend to focus on what we do and how we do things before we focus on the more important question of why, are we doing what we are doing. He uses famous speeches like the “I Have A Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King and shows the reader how Dr. King answered the question of “why” civil rights were critical to the future of the nation and world.
This model can be applied in professional and personal development settings, as whether it is on an organizational or personal level, clarifying why we are doing something is critical. It is also recommended that leaders take a look at Senek’s TED Talk as this provides a good idea of what you will read more about in his classic book.
