We emphasize laboratory research, where students work with faculty to develop their expertise in desired techniques while learning the scientific process. But actually, she ahead of the curve. Eager to be among the first in NC\u00a0State\u2019s IBMP program, she completed the app last, after interviews and the GRE. \u201cFortunately, everything worked out. &#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n\t      \t    \n              <p class=\"content-card__cta\">Read Ashley&#8217;s <span class=nowrap>story&nbsp;<span class=\"arrow-indicator\"><svg class=\"wolficon wolficon-arrow-right-bold\" role=\"img\"  aria-hidden=\"true\">\n            \n            <use xlink:href=\"#wolficon-arrow-right-bold\">\n        <\/svg><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n          <\/div>\n\n  <\/a>\n  <\/div>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ibmp.wordpress.ncsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Interdisciplinary Biochemistry Master&#8217;s Program (IBMP)<\/a> is a collaborative effort among the Departments of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/plant-and-microbial-biology\" target=\"_blank\">Plant and Microbial Biology<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/food-bioprocessing-and-nutrition-sciences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences<\/a>; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/animal-science\" target=\"_blank\">Animal Science<\/a>; and the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/prestage-department-of-poultry-science\" target=\"_blank\">Prestage Department of Poultry Science<\/a> to recruit and retain graduate students from underrepresented groups. The program was funded by a grant from the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Science Foundation<\/a> (NSF). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholars in IBMP take core classes in biochemistry and apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems in a wide variety of areas.
