In this role, the Staff Senators have a variety of responsibilities such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initiating the review of policies and\/or procedures and make recommendations regarding interest\/concerns that affect staff members;<\/li>\n<li>Receiving proposed policies or policy changes from the chancellor for review and recommendations;<\/li>\n<li>Assisting in the communication of issues and activities affecting staff members; promotes and facilitates staff participation in the university community;<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging a sense of community among all university employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sara represents District 11-CALS and is the CALS Coordinator of Career Services. I&#8217;ve enjoyed getting to know my fellow Senators from around the university, as well as gaining in-depth knowledge of how the university works. I also like feeling like I&#8217;m serving my fellow CALS staff members and others around campus and around the state. Being a Staff Senator will help you feel like part of a bigger community here at NC&#160;State and will give you a greater sense of purpose in your work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If CALS staff members have anything they&#8217;d like the Staff Senate to address, I would love to hear from them! Also, I manage the Staff Senate LinkedIn page and encourage CALS staff members and faculty to connect with us on LinkedIn &#8211; @NC&#160;State Staff Senate.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Senate meets every first Wednesday of each month, with the exception of the July meeting. All general session meetings are open to everyone!
