Third Annual Women’s Equality Day Luncheon

Register for the August 24th Women's Equality Seminar

The CALS Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites you to participate in our Third Annual Women’s Equality Day Luncheon.

Our Annual Women’s Equality Day Luncheon takes place at the Talley Student Center Coastal Ballroom Suite on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. Join us and our keynote speaker, our very own Dr. Alexandria K. Graves, for an extraordinary midday celebration of the women’s suffrage movement, a review of our victories and the challenges we face in defending them.

Dr. Graves’ keynote address “Ain’t I A Woman” –Sojourner Truth, 1851, begins with the accurate version of Truth’s speech published by Marius Robinson on June 21, 1851 in the Salem Anti‐Slavery Bugle. Sojourner Truth is quoted as saying “Truth is Powerful and it Prevails.” Dr. Graves will discuss some truths of today’s reality and address the question, how can we effect change in the world when only half are invited or feel welcome to participate in the conversation.

The observance of Women’s Equality Day not only commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, but also honors the women’s suffrage movement that included brave women and men who battled and lobbied for women’s right to vote. Your involvement offers a great opportunity to support a celebration that aims to call attention to women’s continuing efforts to obtain full equality, and to provide opportunities for many in the campus community to experience an impactful event.

This Luncheon provides an opportunity to meet with administrators, faculty, staff, and students from all over campus. As well as, connect with women, men, transgender, non-binary and agender peers in this passionate and positive community of change-‐makers!
Our success depends on participation from all helping to underwrite our costs and this allows us to focus our efforts on inspiring our community.  Sponsorships for the luncheon covers direct costs and do not generate a profit.

Sponsorships are $15.00/person or $120.00 per table
