CALS CCO Assumes New Role

After serving as CALS’ chief communications officer for the past six years, Richard Campbell will assume the role of vice chancellor for strategic communications at UNC Greensboro.

Richard played a key role in helping CALS Communications transition into a digital-first, strategic marketing and communications agency focused on telling the extraordinary stories of the college’s students, staff, faculty and stakeholders. Under his leadership, the CALS Communications team successfully redesigned the college’s website and magazine and launched content and social media strategies that elevated the college’s brand and increased stakeholder engagement.

CALS Dean Richard Linton has prioritized investing in strategic communications and believes the return on investment has enhanced the college’s reputation and helped advance its priorities.

“Richard Campbell has been a game-changer and a difference-maker for CALS. He has built and led a strong communications team that has told the stories and highlighted the impacts of our great work,” said Linton. “He is ready for the next step in his career and the entire college wishes him well and thanks him for his strategic leadership.”

Richard will start his new role at UNC Greensboro on Dec. 1. Upon university approval, an interim chief communications officer will be named.
