Event Navigation

The College of Sciences invites all Staff and Faculty to celebrate the solar Eclipse on the Brickyard August 21, 2017 from 12:30-4:00 p.m. For the first time in 99 years, a total solar eclipse will cross the United States. During this rare celestial event, the moon will pass between the sun and the Earth, appearing to block the sun for almost an hour and a half. The eclipse will occur during the afternoon, peaking at 2:44 p.m. While Raleigh isn’t in the path of totality, we will see 90% coverage.
Take your lunch and come celebrate and take part in science activities and eclipse-related fun including:
  • Safe ways to view the eclipse, including free solar glasses
  • Science activities monitoring changes in weather and animal behavior
  • Real-time streams of solar observations and weather data
  • Entertainment, Food and water stations featuring Moon Pies, and much more!

For more information on this event, visit The College of Sciences Eclipse Day page. This is a community wide event, family and friends are welcome!
