Currently, the Liu laboratory is interested in:<\/p>\n<p>i) development of novel approaches for non-GMO, genotype-independent delivery of the CRISPR\/Cas9 system into crops for gene editing;<\/p>\n<p>ii) understanding of the molecular mechanisms of agronomic traits including tomato bacterial wilt resistance, seed size, and tomato fruit lycopene content; and<\/p>\n<p>iii) crop trait engineering using genetic engineering and gene editing such as rose rosette virus resistance and modified flowering patterns and CRISPR pollen for restricting pollen-mediated gene flow.<\/p>\n<p>The Liu laboratory is also interested in computational tool-assisted <em>de novo<\/em> motif discovery and synthetic promoter engineering.<\/p>\n<p>His laboratory is looking for a postdoc and a graduate student.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Liu teaches <strong>HS\/GN\/CS\/720<\/strong> <strong>Molecular Biology in Plant Breeding<\/strong> (3 credit hours) at 11:45 am &#8211; 1:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday in each Spring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":889,"featured_media":8816,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"source":"","ncst_custom_author":"","ncst_show_custom_author":false,"ncst_dynamicHeaderBlockName":"","ncst_dynamicHeaderData":"","ncst_content_audit_freq":"","ncst_content_audit_date":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"group":[299,311,366,325,334],"person_tag":[],"class_list":["post-8814","person","type-person","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","group-academics","group-genomics","group-breeding-genetics-genomics-and-bioengineering","group-faculty","group-research-appt"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/person\/8814","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/person"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/person"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/889"}],"version-history":[{"count":10,"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/person\/8814\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":96541,"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/person\/8814\/revisions\/96541"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/8816"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8814"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"group","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/group?post=8814"},{"taxonomy":"person_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/horticultural-science\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/person_tag?post=8814"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
