A special welcome to the JC Raulston Arboretum’s summer interns!  When you visit the arboretum, be sure to say hello to these NC State University students, who are working alongside JCRA staff this summer. In addition to helping with the very large job of maintaining a public garden, they are very busy propagating plants for the JCRA Annual Plant Distribution, building structures, teaching, and planting new gardens.

Tori Parker is from Spring Hope, N.C. and is working directly with the JCRA Children’s Program. She completed an undergraduate degree in agricultural education this past spring and will begin a graduate program in agricultural education this fall. Kamen Dedmon and Patrick Hamilton are both starting their senior year this fall and are from Shelby and Charlotte, N.C., respectively. Both are studying towards a Bachelor of Science degree in horticultural science. Zoe Carmon-Rogers is a rising sophomore from Greensboro and is very excited to be majoring in agricultural education. Madeleine (Maddie) Ciszewski is a rising junior majoring in agricultural science with an emphasis in soil science and animal science. She is from Washington, D.C., and is interested in teaching sustainable agriculture.

The Student Internship Program is generously supported by donations to the JCRA Internship Fund and by three named JCRA internship endowments—Dr. Robert E. Lyons JCRA Internship Endowment,  Dale and Thom Henderson Internship Endowment, and the Isabella Cannon Endowed Arboretum Internship.
