The station tours, starting at 9:30am, will provide an overview of livestock and forage research being conducted within the NC Beef System. There will be 3 tour stations in the morning at various locations on the Upper Piedmont Research Station. The Focus on Feed Efficiency Station will discuss feed efficiency, sorghum silage and heifer breeding soundness exams. The Winter Feeding Area will discuss winter feeding, stockpiling Tall Fescue and soil health. The Forage Systems/Tall Fescue Station will cover the selection of annuals, converting toxic fescue to non-toxic fescue and identifying fescue tolerant animals. Following lunch, producers will have an opportunity to learn about the various pathways to NC State University. To conclude the event, we will have a heifer sale (10 open Angus heifers, 10 open commercial heifers, 2 bred commercial heifers, 5 bred Senepol commercial heifers and 2 bred Angus cows). You will also have the opportunity to become BQA Recertified.
