Research Interests

Population genetics and virulence screening of global Blumeria graminis f.sp. tritici populations, cause of powdery mildew disease on wheat across the world. Seeking to understand population structure and historic migration patterns, and to give region-specific recommendations for breeding programs.

Understanding durability of resistance in wheat: characterization of an avirulence gene in Blumeria graminis f.sp. tritici interacting with a resistance gene in wheat by marker-trait association and genetic mapping. Employing an automated, quantitative phenotyping platform to determine aggressiveness of isolates.
