Area(s) of Expertise

My name is Elise Richardson, and I am currently an entomology PhD student at NC State in the Roe lab over in the Dearstyne entomology bldg. I am working with ticks and chiggers, specifically, I am studying how a novel mineral can control ticks and assessing the microbiome of the chigger. I recently completed my MS at the University of Florida in biology where I worked in a behavioral disease ecology lab and studied the effects of pathogen infection on the questing behaviors of the lone star tick. My interests are in medical & veterinary entomology, ticks and tick-borne diseases, mites, vector biology, insect ecology, and insect behavior. I am also into bird watching as a hobby!
