Graduate Student – PhD
Entomology – Reisig Lab
My PhD research focuses on the impact of blended and structure refuge strategies with different pyramided Bt expressions in the development of Bt resistance of the corn earworm (Helicoverpa zea). Going from the field to the lab, my project covers the biology and behavior of resistant insects and how these are associated with individuals expressing resistant genes. As a fellow of the AgBioFEWS program, my goal is to understand growers’ practices and decision making on insect resistance management in Brazil and investigate possible outcomes, practical feasibility and implementation of IPM and IRM in the future.
