Munster Wins Pride of Wolfpack Award

Sun sets on the Belltower under a crisp blue fall sky.

Mike Munster, plant disease diagnostician with NC State University’s Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, has won a Pride of the Wolfpack award for authorship of the “Diseases and Disorders” chapter of the Extension Gardener Handbook.

This comprehensive guide covers the major types of plant diseases and plant pathogens, plant disorders, disease cycles, disease control and problem diagnoses. It also contains an illustrated glossary of plant disease symptoms, tables describing characteristics of recognizable diseases of garden plants, shrubs and trees and a short key to identifying certain types of problems.

Dr. Barbara Shew, who is director of the Plant Disease and Insect Clinic, says, “The chapter will serve as an outstanding resource for years to come. This would be an impressive accomplishment for anyone and is even more impressive given that Mike prepared the chapter while maintaining his usual standards of excellent work as the commercial ornamentals diagnostician in the Plant Disease and Insect Clinic.”
