Entomology and Plant Pathology Professors Awarded and Recognized

Congratulations to the Entomology and Plant Pathology professors below who have recently been awarded with the following:

Dr. David Bird was elected Vice President of the Society of Nematologists (SON).  This requires a 4-year commitment, with year 1: vice president, year 2: president elect, year 3: president, year 4: past president. SON is the premier international organization for Nematology. The Society publishes the Journal of Nematology, and convenes an annual conference. The President is chair of the executive board, and the 4 “stages” have proscribed duties.

Dr. Bird was also awarded member status of Faculty of 1000.  This award recognizes excellence in the discipline of the awardee, and anticipates that the awardee highlights important publications to the community at large through brief, periodic reviews.

Dr. Allen Cohen has been invited to be the keynote speaker for the South Carolina Entomological Society in October, 2017.

Dr. Jim Kerns received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from NCSU’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) in July, 2017.  This award recognizes former CALS students who excel early in their careers adn show promise for continued success.

Dr. Dominic Reisig was awarded the 2017 North Carolina Association of Cooperative Extension Specialist Outstanding Subject Matter Program developed by an Individual Award.
