To identify wetlands the soil must be examined for signs that certain chemical reactions have occurred in it. This research program focuses on understanding how wetland soils form by studying the chemical reactions that occur in these soils. In addition, identifying wetland boundaries using soil indicators of wetlands is of wide concern.
