Current research interests include cultivar screening for tolerance to high acidity and low available phosphorus, evaluation of alternatives for alleviating constraints to root growth in acid subsoils, and development of diagnostic criteria to identify pH, Al toxicity and or Ca deficiency problems in subsoils. Research projects are conducted in both North Carolina and the humid tropics of Latin America.
