Nutrient Management Program

Nutrient management planning is the tool we use to efficiently and effectively manage crop nutrients. Environmental protection is one of the key goals of nutrient management. Other goals realized are more efficient (less costly) crop production and sustainable farming systems, including animal production. In North Carolina, nutrient management plans are required for farms with animal waste management systems regulated by the NC Division of Water Resources, as well as farms located in nutrient sensitive watersheds. These plans must meet federal technical standards and be certified by a technical specialist approved by the NC Soil and Water Conservation Commission. Completion of this nutrient management course is one required component of the application to become a certified technical specialist.

How to Register via “Reporter”

The online registration platform for Nutrient Management Training has been migrated to a new university system called Reporter. Below are some tips to help you navigate the Reporter registration screens.

Reporter is similar to an Amazon shopping cart. You will add a course to your cart and then check out. You, as the shopper, will need to create a Reporter account. You can register yourself as well as other employees. Anyone registered for a course will need a Reporter account, and all new accounts are created during the shopping cart check out process.

1. Click Register Now under Registration Information

2. Click Add to Cart.

3. Click that you’ve read the policies.

4. Click Login to Continue.

• If your email address ends with “,” click Unity ID Login. Enter your Unity username and password, and click Login.

• If your email address does NOT end with “,” and you do not already have a Reporter account, click “No Account? Sign up here.”
Fill in all the information and complete the process to create a new Reporter account. Then click Guest Login, enter your email address and the password you just created, and click Login.

5. Now back at your shopping cart:

• If registering yourself, click Proceed to Order Summary, and follow the screens through payment.

• If registering someone else, change the drop down next to Participant 1 to “Other” and click Choose Participant. If your participant already has a Reporter account, you can search on their email address, and select them. If your participant does not have a Reporter account, click Create Account, fill in the information, and finish by clicking Save and Email Participant. This will bring you back to Participant 1, and that person’s name should now appear directly under the words “Participant 1.” Click Proceed to Order Summary, and follow the screens through payment.
