They are resume boosters, adding value to your degree and preparing you for your professional career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Animal science students have three options to receive course credit for provides an opportunity for students to gain real-world experience in a scientific research program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completion, students will be expected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the goal of the research project and their specific role in that project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the professional competencies and knowledge they developed or deepened through the research experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain how they applied formal in-class experiences to the research experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe how the research experience contributed to the achievement of academic or career goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain how their understanding of the nature and practice of science was impacted by the research (MOAs for the courses: <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/animal-science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2023\/04\/ANS492-Memorandum-of-Agreement_Updated-4_21_23.docx\">ANS492<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/animal-science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2023\/04\/ANS493-Memorandum-of-Agreement_UPDATED-4_21_23.docx\">ANS493<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/animal-science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2023\/04\/ANS494-Memorandum-of-Agreement_UPDATED-4_21_23.docx\">ANS494<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email a completed MOA to <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/animal-science\/people\/melissa-merrill\/\">Melissa Merrill<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read the footnote on each MOA carefully and follow the submission directions exactly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that the number of course credits requested is justified by the number of internship contact hours (i.e., 45 contact hours are required for each course credit, and a maximum of 3 credits can be requested for each internship).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that the addition of internship credits does not cause your total semester credits to exceed 18 credits. If it does, please ask your academic advisor to increase your credit load limit to allow for the addition of internship credits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have completed the MOA, Dr. Merrill will add you to the class. If you do not see ANS 492, ANS 493 or ANS 494 on your schedule, then you are not in the class.
