Fred Parker

Frederick Parker teaches courses in Agricultural Marketing and Ethics, and is the faculty advisor for NAMA, joining the NC State ARE faculty in January 2010. Fred was raised in Virginia, but has lived in six states – including North Carolina – and has traveled extensively in all 50 states and abroad. Much of this travel has been in Fred’s prior professional career, where he served in marketing, sales, and management positions working with rural American businesses. His research interests include Collective Action, Industrial Organization, and Ethics, notably regarding the Boundary of the Firm and its effects on behavior within economic transactions. This research ties to Fred’s professional background through the prominence of cooperative business enterprises within agriculture, which were the subject of his dissertation at the University of Missouri.
