Whitmire Awarded at NCCE Conference

Brittany Whitmire, ARE Dairy Extension Associate received the Dr. Joe & Mrs. Lise Zublena Program Impact Award on November 15th, 2018 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension awards dinner.

“We are grateful to our donors for recognizing and rewarding the important efforts of our team through agriculture, food and nutrition, and 4-H youth development,” said Bonanno. “I am so proud of the work these individuals do to help North Carolina grow and prosper.”

Joe and Lisé Zublena established the Joe and Lisé Zublena CES Awards Endowment to recognize impacts of the Cooperative Extension Service employees have made on their targeted clientele. Joe Zublena served as Associate Dean and Director for Extension for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He was involved with extension programs in North Carolina since 1988 when first joined the College’s faculty after working at Clemson University in agronomy and soils for almost 10 yrs. Throughout his career, Dr. Zublena encouraged programs of excellence that make a difference. He supported the need for extension professionals to be accountable by measuring their program outcome and impacts. Lisé Zublena, a registered dietician before retiring in the later part of 2014, was the Director of Food and Nutrition Services at WakeMed Cary. Because of their core values, the Zublenas have created an awards endowment recognizing employees who have excelled at Empowering People & Providing Solutions.

Brittany plans to use the funds to attend the joint meeting of Dairy Management Inc. in Phoenix, AZ, in November 2019. The ARE and CALS communities thank and congratulate Brittany for her contributions to NC Dairy.
