Phillips Earns ‘Quality Matters’ Certification for ARE 332

The QM certification is a testament to the quality work and commitment to student success that Jonathan Phillips has applied to ARE 332 (Human Resource Management for Agribusiness) through course design and teaching.

Quality Matters has developed a widely respected set of standards for the design of effective online courses and a rigorous, faculty peer review process for applying these standards to existing courses. Through this process, reviewers provide instructors and instructional design teams with insights and recommendations that increase learner engagement, retention and satisfaction, and, ultimately, learner achievement.

The QM program at NC State is a rigorous professional development program in which instructors collaborate with colleagues and DELTA staff to learn about the QM Higher Education Standards and apply them to online courses. Phillips participated in the Online Course Improvement Program last semester and has now met all requirements for certification.

Our ARE community echoes the congratulations sent to Phillips from DELTA’s Bethanne Winzeler:

“Congratulations, Jonathan, on this achievement and the hard work that you put in to achieve it. We hope that ARE 332 will continue to provide our students with the highest quality online education and that your experience will help pave the way for other faculty at NC State who are committed to student success to pursue this certification. We really enjoyed working with you on this endeavor.”
