Eric Edwards Named Interim Associate Director of CEnREP

Eric Edwards, an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, joined the administration team for the Center for Environmental and Resource Economics Policy. He will work with Interim Director Roger von Haefen to advance environmental solutions that work for society and the environment by coupling state-of-the-art economic science with natural science and engineering solutions. Edwards says:

“I am excited to join the leadership team, where I will continue to further CEnREP’s key goals of training the next generation of environmental economists and providing research and outreach that is policy-relevant in North Carolina and around the world.”

Edwards’ work is focused on the economics and management of natural resources like water, land, and fisheries, both now and historically. His research has been funded by the USDA, NOAA, and the National Science Foundation. Edwards runs an Extension Program in Resource Economic Policy and Governance focused on water economics, coastal resources, climate change, and public lands. He holds a Ph.D. in economics and environmental science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as an MBA from the University of Rochester and a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Idaho. He teaches an interdisciplinary undergraduate/graduate course in water economics.
