Agricultural Business Management (ABM) students once again demonstrated their exceptional talent and training at the 2025 National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) Sales and Marketing Competitions, held April 8-10 in Kansas City, Missouri. ABM Student Landon Hackney led the way in the Sales Competition, earning second place.

Hackney was joined by ABM students Fleming Fulford, Jackie Green, Lee Gwynn, Lully Murphy and Logan Seely, who showcased strong sales skills and professionalism throughout the Sales Competition. The sales team was coached by Bayer Crop Science Business Partner Lead and ABM Alumnus Aaron Messer, who volunteered his time to prepare the students leading up to the competition.

The Sales Competition followed an elimination-style format, requiring students to deliver a 10-minute pitch to a fictional client based on a provided scenario. Hackney and Fulford advanced to the final round, where they repeated the challenge with a new scenario.

“I am so thankful for the lessons and experiences gained throughout this journey, and none of it was possible without my team members,” Hackney said. “Make no mistake, this was a team effort.”

In addition to the Sales Competition, ABM students participated in the NAMA Marketing Competition. Representing NC State were Bella Poulton, McKenzie Wilkes, Gabriella Herrera-Mendez, Tyler Wells, Cal Wilhelm, Chris Yoo, Caroline Kiser, Kennedy Cable, Sanders Hale and Jake Gillispie. The marketing team, coached by Assistant Teaching Professor Edeoba Edobor, presented a comprehensive marketing campaign, earning strong feedback from the judges.

This marks the second consecutive year NC State has competed in the NAMA Sales Competition and the second year back in the Marketing Competition after an extended hiatus. The continued success of ABM students in both competitions emphasizes the department’s commitment to providing real-world experiences that prepare students for careers in agribusiness and marketing.

Congratulations to Landon Hackney and all of this year’s NAMA competitors for representing NC State and the ARE department with excellence!
