Area Specialized Agent – Food Safety

Candice Deschaine Christian is an Area Specialized Agent in Consumer & Retail Food Safety at North Carolina State University. Candice is a Maine native, who grew up in Florida, and in recent years moved to North Carolina with her husband and miniature schnauzer, Lily. She attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida for both undergraduate and graduate school. In 2013, Candice obtained two undergraduate degrees: Bachelors of Science in Public Health, and Bachelors of Arts in Gerontology. In 2015, she received her Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Health Education. Her graduate work focused on health and wellness, particularly physical activity among older adults at The Villages Health Community Center. Candice is interested in community health, particularly in nutrition and food safety education throughout the whole lifespan. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to different countries with her husband, going to hockey games, reading history or science fiction, and long distance running. This Fall, Candice will be running in the Chicago Marathon.
