Jodi Riedel, an AEE doctoral student within the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences, is part of a team that was awarded the “Team Spirit Award” at the 2021 Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) Honor Awards program. The team received this award for their inclusion of multi-state and diversity of participants during COVID.
This was a collaborative effort with teachers from across the country as Riedal was previously an agriculture and food science teacher at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, NC. She was afforded the opportunity to attend the FDA’s Science and Our Food Supply experience in DC in 2015. From that experience, Riedel was asked to represent their organization at the National Science Teachers Association conference in Charlotte back in 2019. After her continued success, she was asked to write the curriculum for the group, which can be found here.
As the only member of the group from North Carolina, she represented the state and NC State University exceptionally. Congratulations on the award Jodi and your continued success in our department and the future.
