After many years of assigning trials to different researchers in different academic departments, IR-4 HQ decided in 1994 to consolidate residue testing at NC State University by establishing the NC State IR-4 Field Research Center within the Department of Horticultural Sciences . Dr. David Monks was appointed Director and Mr. Wayne Mitchem was the first Field Research Director. In 2000, Mr. Roger B. Batts became Field Research Director. Since its inception, the Center has conducted over 265 residue trials encompassing over 35 crops and over 90 products. Many crop tolerance/efficacy trials are still assigned to the appropriate specialists based on the pest control agent being evaluated. |
