THL Landscape Design, Requirement Footnotes

  1. Two courses, one credit hour each, in physical education are required. This requirement includes one Fitness & Wellness course.
  2. The Humanities and Social Sciences Requirements are 21 hours of courses as follows:
    • One three hour course from the Literature list
    • One three hour course from the History, Philosophy, or Religion list
    • One three hour course from the Visual and Performing Arts list ...or the History list
    • One course from the Economics Elective list and one course from the following elective lists: Anthropology, Cultural Geography, Linguistics, Politics and Government, Psychology, and Sociology
    • Six credit hours in any of the humanities and/or social sciences
    • One of the courses among those elected to fulfill the Humanities and Social Sciences Requirement must focus on a non-English speaking culture.
    • It is suggested that one of the courses elected to fulfill the Humanities and Social Sciences Requirements also come from the Science, Technology, and Society (Humanities and Social Science Perspective) List. If not taken as a Humanities and Social Sciences Elective, then a course from this List must be taken as a Free Elective
  3. The Writing and Speaking Elective Requirement includes one course from the Advanced Writing Electives List or the Communication/Speech Electives List.
  4. Students must choose a minimum of 4 hours from the Natural Science Electives column, 6 hours from the Plant Protection Electives column, and 11 hours from the Advised Electives column. Advised Electives can also include any HS 495 or any 500-level HS course as well as up to 6 hours (combined) of HS 492, External Learning Experience and HS 493, Special Problems in Horticultural Science (an Internal Learning Experience). All students are strongly encouraged to participate in a learning experience as part of their undergraduate course work.
  5. Students will use this course to complete their senior projects.
  6. Language proficiency at FL 102 is required for graduation.
