Classical polypoid lesions are detected and removed during routine colonoscopy at a much higher rate than flat lesions and there is growing evidence that, once detected, flat lesions have a higher propensity to be invasive. Dr. Bautz is currently investigating the genetic factors that control variation in tumor histopathology in a mouse model of human coloractal cancer (CRC).
