April Wynn Selected for Preparing the Professoriate Program PhD Candidate April Wynn has been selected for the 2011–2012 Preparing the Professoriate (PTP) program.

The Preparing the Professoriate (PTP) program is focused on doctoral students who plan careers as research/teaching faculty members. The PTP program is a central component of the NC State Graduate School's professional development initiative, Preparing Future Leaders. Begun in 1993, the PTP program has been nationally recognized as an example of best practices in graduate education.

Preparing the Professoriate provides students a hands-on teaching opportunity under a distinguished faculty mentor recognized for his or her teaching skills, and sponsors workshops for participants and their mentors illuminating various aspects of college/university teaching. April will be working with her faculty mentor, Dr. Julie Pederson, to prepare and teach an undergraduate genetics elective. Over the course of the academic year, April will have the opportunity to develop a mentee relationship with Dr. Pederson and complete a teaching portfolio under her guidance.
