Currently, there are 50 graduate students in the Department of Animal Science. These students have come to NCSU from a variety of places in the US including Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, Louisiana and Pennsylvania. In addition, a number of our students have come from as far away as Argentina and Taiwan.
Graduate students in the Department are pursuing a variety of degrees including Master of Animal Science (MAS), Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. They focus on a variety of disciplines including genetics/genomics, nutrition and physiology. Many different animal models including beef cattle, dairy cattle, goats, mice, cats and horses are used by graduate students in the Department of Animal Science as they pursue their research projects.
