Research interests:

The overall objective of my research is the improvement of economically relevant traits in dairy cattle thorough the use of both quantitative and molecular methods. Area of research in which I’m particularly interested are the investigation and modeling of health related traits through the use of on farm data, the identification of loci involved in health and survival, the integration of molecular and quantitative information into selection programs and the use of alternative strategies in the investigation of low heritability and adaptation traits.

Collaborations:

2003-present. Collaboration with the Italian contractor in the research consortium of the five partners "Quantitative Trait Loci Affecting Milk Production: Mapping and Utilization for Marker Assisted Selection in Dairy and Dual Purpose Cattle"(BovMAS- QLK-2001-02379) funded by the European Union.

2002-2005. Collaboration with the Italian Holstein Breeders’ Association (ANAFI) on the “Proteje” project, aiming to develop a joint international dairy cattle evaluation system.

2001-2001Research associate at the University of Milan under the supervision of Prof. A. Bagnato and Prof. G. Gandini on the project: “Confronto della razza locale Reggiana e del suo prodotto tipico con la razza Frisona Italiana”.
