VITAMIN AND TRACE MINERAL REQUIREMENTS OF HORSES

OVERALL OBJECTIVE

To better define vitamin and trace mineral requirements of horses in order to promote their health, well-being and efficient production and management.  The program consists of three focus areas:

• Establishing appropriate parameters for defining vitamin and trace mineral requirements of horses
• Evaluating the bioavailability of different vitamin and trace mineral sources
• Defining and predicting seasonal changes in forage vitamin and trace mineral content.
