Before recommending admission of an applicant to the Graduate School, the Director of Graduate Programs certifies that a faculty member of the Animal Science Department has agreed to serve as the applicant's adviser.
To identify a graduate program advisor, the applicant should contact potential graduate faculty members to determine if they would be willing to take the applicant into their program.
If the applicant wishes to work in a given area but has not identified a particular faculty member with whom to work, the student's application materials are circulated among faculty working in that area to determine if there is a faculty member who may be interested in the applicant. In this case, the student should remain in close contact with the Director of Graduate Programs to determine if a potential faculty advisor has been identified.
It remains the responsibility of the applicant to obtain the committment of a faculty member to become their graduate advisor.
