Making it easy to be green

At the 2008 N.C. State Fair, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Extension faculty members were nearby to show fairgoers how to contribute to a greener North Carolina through energy conservation and rainwater-saving practices, such as cisterns and rain barrels. These College presentations and others featuring information on biofuels, alternative fuel vehicles, recycling and buying locally grown foods were parts of an extensive new fair exhibit called Green NC, located across from the Kerr Scott Building. Featuring state organizations that lead environmental research, education and outreach, Green NC also housed four recycling stations to accept plastic bottles and aluminum cans.
