York awarded prestigious Holladay Medal

Dr. Alan C. York, William Neal Reynolds Professor of Crop Science and Extension weed specialist in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, is one of two university faculty members receiving the 2009 Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence.

York has served the College and N.C. State for more than 30 years as a teacher, researcher and Extension specialist. The first Extension specialist to be appointed a William Neal Reynolds Professor, York has spent his career working to help growers control weeds and to grow cotton, corn, soybeans and small grains profitably.

The medals were presented during the university’s Honors Baccalaureate and Celebration of Academic Excellence on May 7 in the McKimmon Center.
