Faculty and Staff Professional Development Awards
Endowed Professorships have a minimum of $1,000,000 in their endowment and may be funded over a five year period. There may be an opportunity for a 1:2 match from University of North Carolina General Administration for a Distinguished Professor. If a donor provides $666,000, UNC GA may be able to provide the remaining $334,000. The match is only available when the 2/3 funding is in hand, and only if UNC GA has not already spent its annual allotment for professorships.
Endowed Associate Professorships have a minimum of $500,000 and may also be funded over a five year period. There may be an opportunity for a 1:2 match from University of North Carolina General Administration. If a donor provides $333,000, UNC GA may be able to provide the remaining $167,000. The match is only available when the 2/3 funding is in hand, and only if UNC GA has not already spent its annual allotment for professorships.
Fully-funded Extension Directorships have a minimum of $750,000 in their endowment and may be funded over a five year period. There may be an opportunity for a 1:2 match from University of North Carolina General Administration for a Extension Directorship. If a donor provides $500,000, UNC GA may be able to provide the remaining $250,000. The match is only available when the 2/3 funding is in hand, and only if UNC GA has not already spent its annual allotment for professorships.
Endowed Extension Agent Positions have a minimum of $500,000 for a full agent and $300,000 for an assistant- or associate-agent. These endowments may also be funded over a five year period. There may be an opportunity for a 1:2 match from University of North Carolina General Administration. If a donor provides the 2/3 gifted amount, UNC GA may be able to provide the remaining 1/3 match. The match is only available when the 2/3 funding is in hand, and only if UNC GA has not already spent its annual allotment for professorships

Full endowments for promising young researchers must have a minimum of $100,000 and may be funded over a five-year period.
Partial Endowments for promising young researcher awards must have a minumum of $25,000 and may be funded over a five-year period.
Support for faculty and professional staff to travel to professional and scientific meetings, outreach activities throughout the state, and national and international symposia and lectures:
Endowed Faculty Travel Fund
A named fund to provide travel support for faculty in a department or program area in the College or an Extension office. Minimum $15,000
Support for professional development activities for faculty, non-faculty EPA and support personnel. Awards are generally made by the Department Head/Director based on a competitive application process.
Endowed Professional Development Awards
A named fund to provide awards for professional development activities on a competitive basis for faculty and staff in a department or the College or an Extension office. Minimum $15,000
Ways of funding an endowment in the College of Agriculture, through any of the foundations, include:
a. Gifts of cash over a five year period
b. Appreciated real estate
c. Appreciated stocks, bond or other securities
d. Personal property gifts
e. Will bequests
f. Charitable gift annuities
g. Charitable remainder unitrusts
h. Charitable lead trusts
i. Remainder interests in a residence or farm
Additional contributions from friends, family, and corporations or organizations associated with the fund's donor/honoree will be accepted.
